Live a holy life. Huh?

“For God saved us and called us to live a holy life.”

Those could be some really tough words, don’t you think? Living a holy life on our own would be exceedingly difficult, if not impossible. Even though God has saved us, our minds and hearts are so easily led into sin – a place of unholiness.

HOWEVER, these words come next:
“He did this (saved us), not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.”

Wow!!! Do you see that? Uh-oh. You missed it? I tend to get excited and race through… sorry about that. Let’s slow it down a little.

We human-type creatures don’t deserve saving. We’ve gone our own ways and walked far from God. We’ve made ourselves gods in His place, serving self and flesh in whatever means we choose. We’ve literally spit in the face of the very God who breathed life into our bodies, either saying He doesn’t exist or that we don’t need or want Him. Pretty despicable, huh?

The fact is, we do not deserve saving.

But God had a plan, a huge plan, and we’re part of that plan, even when we’re rebelling against Him.

Before time began.
Before there was day and night.
Before there were sun, moon, and stars.
Before there were oceans or fish in them.
Before there were trees or birds in them.
Before there was grass or cattle or bugs.

Before God made time, He thought of you. He knew how you would be all these years after He created mankind. He knew what the world would be like.

His plan was to show His grace to you – and the rest of us – through Christ Jesus. He wants you to live a holy life, but He knows you can’t do that on your own.

He even has a plan for that!

When He saves us, He Himself (Holy Spirit) enters our heart and soul. Crazy, huh? Once He lives within us, we have the capability to choose holiness. We feel His nudge to choose right. We hear His whisper to leave a place. We understand the scriptures and can apply them to our situations. We know when we’ve taken a wrong turn and need to change course to return to Him.

We
begin
to live in
holiness.

If you’ve never made the decision to accept God’s grace, I hope you choose to do so today. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, contact me.

If you have made that decision, how about today we listen to the Spirit of God who lives in us?

Slow down, turn off the music, step out of the noise and tune in. Hear what He says to you. Should you turn left, right, or stay put?

When you hear, obey.

Therein lies your holiness.
