I just can’t anymore!

“I just can’t anymore.” How many times have I heard or read this sentiment over the past few months? Our culture has presented situations that are mind-boggling at best and screamingly terrifying at worst. Life is throwing things at us we have no way of handling on our own.

We need peace. We crave peace. Many say they want things to be like they were. That’s because there was a peace in the way things were. Our lives were just going on like normal. Now, so many have experienced an upheaval they never imagined.

For many, home used to be a refuge until it became the place of work and stress. We long for that place of refuge where life is slowed down, the stressors stay outside the door and our souls experience peace we can’t explain.

That place is the Lord. We won’t find that peace that starts today and runs into tomorrow and the day after and all the days after that any other place.

How can a person be a place? Okay, so… the presence of the Lord is the place. It is when we choose to take the time to spend moments in His presence that we feel His truth and love cover us, fill our hearts, and envelope our souls. It is in His presence that we learn the truth of who we are and who He is. It is in His presence that we see all the things as they are, and compared to Him, they are the tiniest of mites. Annoying, but not overwhelming.

Let’s choose today to spend time in God’s presence. Let’s invite the Holy Spirit into our day, into our living rooms, into our fears and worries, into our jobs, budgets, and relationships. When the thoughts of what is going on come up, introduce them to the Savior and let Him handle them.

Let’s experience Him as Refuge.
