What better way to strengthen someone than to set them on firm foundation? Solid ground. A place where the ground no longer shifts or shakes.
When the Apostle Paul wrote these words to the believers at Thessalonica, the ground kept shaking under their feet. The Roman Empire sought to end this new Way by torturing and killing those who believed in Christ. Their norm was turmoil with a few moments of peace tucked in. If the believers looked at the situation, it seemed the evil one was winning.
But God.
God had told them about a future with hope. A future with Him. And Paul reminded those blinded by their circumstances that God is indeed faithful, His Word is true, and He does not fail.
It’s a word for us today when nothing seems solid and unshakable. When turmoil reigns and chaos rattles. Our God IS faithful. He IS in charge. He HAS a plan. And what we see is NOT what really is.
Oh, if we could see what’s really going on like Elisha’s servant! (2 Kings 6:15-16)
The enemy of our souls can wreak havoc on this world, but he cannot touch our eternity. He can cause pain and destruction, but he cannot derail our future. He’s a jerk and can’t come close to competing with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is a failed foe. We, through Christ, are the Victors, and the enemy can’t change that.
Let’s hold our heads up, Believer, and walk like we believe this Truth. Let’s show the world how awesome our God really is. Let’s woo them to long for the Savior.
