Want to do God’s will? Get prepared!

What an amazing prayer the writer of Hebrews prayed. I lift it for you now, Believer.

May Almighty God, Ruler of the Universe, equip you with all you need for doing His will. May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to Him. All glory to Him forever and ever! Amen.

I had a friend recently share a prayer she uses to get herself into alignment with God. She says something like, “God, the world’s a mess. Give me my assignment, because I can’t fix the world, and oh, by the way, I’m gonna need your help with that, too.”

We know God designed us for His purpose, that every one of us has meaning and a job that is part of His plan. Oftentimes, we don’t know what that assignment is, but even if we do figure that out, we think we’re supposed to head out alone and do it.

Nope.

Think about our military for a moment. They receive their orders to go and accomplish. Do they each head out and try to find the information they need and the tools they must have on their own? No. They stay right there in the place of command where the resources are stored. They learn all about their mission, gather up the resources they’ll need, and determine how they will work as a team to accomplish their mission.

This should be our way. We receive our assignment from God and we do NOT rush out into the world to do all we can do alone. We stay plugged in, learning all we can about our goal and the purpose for which we are designed. That doesn’t mean we stay in learning mode forever. Our purpose isn’t to only be a student. We are to take action. So as we learn, we gather up the resources we need to move forward, then….
we move forward, remaining connect to Command.

The preparation time is crucial, because we need to know our mission backward and forward. We’re to understand how we fit into God’s bigger puzzle among others who are striving toward the same goal. We need to know our resources and how to use them.

The great news is, God provides all you need to accomplish His will. Isn’t that COOL? Not only that, He will produce in you EVERY good thing that pleases Him. WHAT????

Yes. Through your relationship with Jesus, God produces in you the will and the power to accomplish that for which He has called you (see also Philippians 2:13).

Suit up, Follower! Stand up, Believer! Your God has called you to a mission. Prepare! Move out! He will equip you with everything you need to make Him happy.

Coffee, Bible, Journal.
