Indeed God

Sometimes we need a reminder of who God is. Since He had Moses write these words, it’s logical to believe God knew that to be true.

The Jews have recited the similar verses, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, as their Shema, a daily prayer, for thousands of years. Maybe we should too.

When we have a full realization of who God is and the same of ourselves, we understand His magnificence. Here He says:

Understand, therefore, that the

Lord your God is indeed God. He

is the faithful God who keeps his

covenant for a thousand generations

and lavishes his unfailing love on

those who love him and obey his

commands.

I don’t know about you, but I try hard to keep my word, whether I’ve declared it a promise or made a covenant, letting my yes be yes and my no, no.

Trouble is, I am a fallible human who far too often forgets what I’m to be doing. My brain takes in more and more info and shoves the previously installed information into the deeper recesses.

God is not human, nor is He fallible. He only forgets what He chooses to forget, like when He throws our confessed sins into His sea of forgetfulness. Never His promises. His promises are true and His love unfailing.

Sometimes we get upset because we don’t see His promises answered. We must remember that Almighty God works on His schedule, not ours. It seems highly inconvenient to us who live in a world where we can turn the dial and have hot food in 30 seconds, but He is God and we are not.

Let’s read and reread this verse today. Save the picture. Print it and place it where you’ll see it. Be reminded that The Creator is faithful, keeps His promises, and lavishes His unconditional love on those who love and obey Him.
