Not Ashamed

“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.”

We don’t like to be embarrassed, do we? When we slip and almost fall; we’ll quickly look around to see if anyone noticed.

Have you ever unintentionally worn different color shoes or socks? Ever been saying a word, but your tongue got twisted and said something else?

What about those times when someone else embarrassed you? How did that feel?

We can feel embarrassment and shame over so many things, so many words, so many actions, but we never have to feel that over the Gospel.

See, we feel shame over what is wrong or painful or useless. We feel condemnation because of those words or actions.

But the Gospel? It’s truly Good News! It’s truth. It’s real. It’s powerful. It’s life-giving. It’s life-saving.

It saves us from where sin leads us – eternal death. It moves us instead to eternal life. Forever life. Abundant life.

Sometimes we get really caught up in the concept of not wanting to hurt someone’s feelings by sharing this Good News with others. We keep quiet and our silence becomes deafening.

People around us are perishing!
Not just for today, but forever. If they don’t accept the rescue God offers through salvation, they will not go to Heaven. And here we are, holding the keys, knowing the path, but we’re afraid that if we offer them this truth, they will be hurt by it.

Which hurt is worse? The acute one that lasts a few minutes, day, or even years or the chronic one that will last all of eternity?
Eternity is a long, long time.

Believer, you hold this Good News in you that has God’s power to rescue people from the path to hell! Let’s start sharing it! Let’s spread hope and truth. Let’s drop our shame and fear and trust the Lord.

Let’s start today.

If you’re willing to be brave – even if you don’t feel it now – ask God to show you those around you who don’t know Him. Ask Him to reveal to you those whose names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

When He does – because I believe He absolutely will – act on that. Step up and begin a conversation. Open channels to have the opportunity to share the Good News. Build trust with that one so you can share life and hope for their good.

Starting today, let’s live this verse out and share Him every chance we get.

Coffee, Bible, Journal.
