Life is short. Live well.

Brevity of life.

Do we really believe that? I mean, when folks live to be 90-something, do we call that brief?

If we view that long life through the filter of eternity, we do.

Eternity is forever and we’ll never get to the end of it. Methuselah lived 969 years, yet he’s been gone over 5,000 years with many more to go. We tend to live only 10% of that or less and still have all that time in front of us.

Whew!

But wait, there’s wisdom in this understanding?
Yes there is.

See, we could become fatalistic or reckless with the time we’re given if we don’t have a clear understanding combined with wisdom. We could think life doesn’t really matter and never fully live or we could think this life is all we’ve got, we must do everything, no matter how risky.

Wisdom lives somewhere in the middle of those extremes. Yes, our life is brief compared to eternity, but it has a purpose. God designed each of us for the purpose He has had planned since eternity began.

Hear me: No matter what anyone has told you, YOU ARE NOT AN ACCIDENT. Almighty God planned you, designed every aspect of you for His divine purpose. You have a reason.

Our time is brief, so it’s important that we learn our purpose and live it out. Living with purpose, on purpose through this flash-in-eternity’s-pan life is wisdom. Shall we get started?
