Knowledge or Foolishness? Your Choice.

Timothy Keller talks of the “fear of the Lord” being such an awe of God that we don’t want to offend Him. I like that. It’s not a “He’s going to mash me” fear. It’s a “He’s so amazingly awesome in power, truth, and life that I simply can’t do something that is against Him” kind of fear.

The kind of fear I had for my earthly dad. He was my in-house hero. He was so big and strong and capable, and I was in awe of him.

I could do something that was against my parents’ wishes and get a swat on the bottom and be fine with it. I might cry, but I’d walk away without a deep feeling about it, and would likely give it another try.

Those times, though, when I was a bit older, Dad would sit me down, look at me with those rich brown eyes and say, “Buckshot, I’m so disappointed…”
and I would break.

That’s the kind of fear of God that is the basis and foundation of true knowledge. The knowledge that once we have, we use to relate to everything else in life.

There are those who choose to mock this knowledge and the wisdom and discipline to apply it to everyday life. They think it’s ridiculous to be in awe of this so-called Big Bang theory that has nothing to do with an intelligent Creator.

They do this to their detriment.
They do this to their own folly.
They do this from a place of foolishness and a lack of understanding.
They are to be loved, but they also need our compassion, if not our pity. What is coming for them is destruction. The saddest part is that they are choosing this destruction by their foolishness.

Today is the day to choose, my friend. Will you mock the One who created you, the One who spoke the universe into existence, the One who keeps the Earth spinning, the One who died for your sins? Or will you choose to be in stunned awe of God’s power, love, and mercy, His creativity, His strength and reserve?

Will you choose the foundation of knowledge and know how to apply that knowledge to every aspect of life or will you walk in foolishness, never choosing to see the path to Truth?

Up to you. #ChooseWell.

By the way, you don’t get to have a foot in both camps. It’s either/or. Choose knowledge! Choose wisdom! Choose LIFE!
