Keep Sowing and Plan for the Harvest

Going through hard times is… well, hard.

We shed a lot of tears over the death of a family member or friend. Tears run freely over the plight of one struck with potentially terminal disease. Sobs erupt because of the choices of a wayward child. Weeping continues for the salvation of friends and family.

In these times, believers tend to pray as they cry, the flow of tears leading them to the throne of God. They pray for healing, for life, for repentance, for restoration, for salvation.

This is part of the planting the psalmist wrote of, this inserting seeds of expectant hope into the spiritual realm, setting the enemy on guard with faith that believes what can’t be seen.

Too often we look at the situation that leads us to tears and say, “all we can do is pray” as though that’s the least important thing possible. What we need to realize is that is the most crucial thing we should do! We must recognize that our reaching out to the heart of God on behalf of those we love, including ourselves, is critical not least. It’s not an add-on, it’s the core.

Let the tears flow, my friend. Take every one to the Savior, asking Him for relief. Prepare your heart in the good times by devouring His Word and spending time talking with Him. Then, sow those tears, cares, and concerns into that fertile ground of your heart meeting with His and prepare for a harvest unlike any you could imagine.

As you pray, don’t just ask for the least, ask for the most! Ask for the best! Let every word of your prayer be a firm declaration of your faith in the Almighty, your heart beating for His, trusting His motives and answers.

And if His answer to your request is no, keep crying out to Him. Keep trusting Him. Keep declaring His goodness. Keep watching for the harvest of all harvests.
