It’s US, not THEM

Israel had walked themselves right into consequences they were not enjoying. Sort of like where we are today.

We want our nation healed and whole, and we turn to this promise given to the people of Israel.

What I’ve noticed, however, is that most of the time, when we read this verse, we’re thinking about THEM. You know, THOSE PEOPLE in government positions. Those who are making the laws, those who are in authority—and we don’t think about the person in the mirror.

The Book says we’re ALL to humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from OUR wicked ways. That’s we. You. Me. All who believe.

But no, says we, it’s the politicians. It’s the protestors. It’s the Boomers. It’s the Millenials. It’s Gen X. It has to be someone else who is responsible for this country being in the fix she’s in.

Nope.

The Word says MY PEOPLE who are CALLED BY MY NAME.

If we say we are believers, WE are the ones who are supposed to humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from OUR wicked ways.

Just because we go to church regularly and pray sometimes, and read our Bibles ever so often, we think we’re not included in the requirements for healing a nation.

Not. We ARE included. Every single one of us are important to this process. We must stop thinking we’re all that and a bag of chips. We’re the same as those in Washington, DC or London or Canberra or any other political capital. We are all sinners. We have all gone against God and His will for us.

IF we believers really mean it when we say that we want our nation healed,
we MUST get on our faces before God and confess our part
in the country’s downfall—not meaning the political stuff, but the spiritual.
We must confess and repent of all that goes with choosing self over God.
We must seek God’s face like never before today.
And tomorrow. And the next day, too.

If all of us who say we’re Christians do this, God promises He will hear us from Heaven. Then… oh, then…He will forgive our sins and heal our land.

It’s time, my friend.

Coffee, Bible, Journal.
