In verses 8 and 9, God, through the prophet Isaiah, declares that His thoughts are nothing like human thoughts and His ways are far beyond what humans can imagine. Then, in verse 10, He reminds of how the rain and snow fall on the earth and remain to produce a harvest.
THEN He says it is the same with His Word. He sends it out like sending rain and snow to replenish the earth, and it will always produce a harvest, and that it will accomplish all that HE wants it to.
Do you catch that? HE sends out His Word. Sometimes He uses us. Sometimes He uses unbelievers like Nebuchadnezzar and Darius. Sometimes He uses donkeys. But HE sends out His word.
It’s never us sending it out. We don’t have the thoughts or ways to plan, prepare, send, or reap. It’s all God.
THEN…
Just like with a crop, when the growing season is done, a harvest is gathered. All that God intended that Word to do and cause will happen just as He desired, and not a minute before. HE plans. HE sends out the Word (plants). HE fertilizes, ferments, and grows that Word until the time when He goes into that field and brings out the fruit HE intended to harvest from the time He began planning.
We must never get ahead of ourselves, thinking the results will be immediate. They require a growing season, a time for the seed to move through its process from seed to crop.
We must never think that just because we don’t see the results they didn’t happen.
Paul recognized this when he spoke of him planting and Apollos watering, but God being the One who accomplished His desired outcome. We need to recognize our part in the process.
Some of us need to take ourselves off the throne and release it back to the Almighty, recognizing that we’re not sending a word out, God alone is. We’re His trumpet, His megaphone, His speaker, but we are never Him.
Some of us need to utilize the patience the Spirit inside us manifests within us. We’re to share the word the Lord sends forth without worrying about what results will come. We can trust Him for that. We just need to be about planting and watering until He returns to reap.
Let’s let God fully take over today and speak His Word as He has given it to us, trusting Him to make of it what He wants.
