Wisdom > Knowledge

Who doesn’t need wisdom today, raise your hand. I’m looking and don’t see the first one.

We are living in a time when all knowledge is right at our fingertips. In eons past, to access the knowledge we have available, one had to travel and seek permission to be able to read the ledgers, books, and papers filled with it. Now we lift our phones from pocket or purse and there it is.

Knowledge is a good thing. For years we saw the star/comet streak across our television screens that said, “The more you know…” as a tidbit was shared.

Knowing how to apply that knowledge to a certain situation? That’s a whole different animal. That can’t be taught. That can’t be arranged. It’s only through wisdom, and that is only available from the Source. The only Source is Almighty God.

Thankfully, God doesn’t want to hold that wisdom back from us. He isn’t sitting in a darkened corner counting all the bits of wisdom he holds, considering which person he will bestow it on. He simply waits for those who are believers to request it so He can pass it on.

There are no hoops to jump through, no lists of prerequisites. Just your request. And do you see, God will not rebuke you for asking for this wisdom? No, “Well, if you’d been paying attention, you’d already know this!”

Just the gift, handed over with abundant love that includes the instruction of how to use this wisdom, in the form of the Holy Spirit living in us. What could be better?

Believer, if you need wisdom today to make a decision or to make sense of what you see, ask God for it. Get off your proud horse and ask for it. He isn’t waiting to whack you over the head when you do, He’s waiting to give it to you. And He’ll give more as you request it.

Coffee, Bible, Journal.
