Where are you?

“They knew it was the Lord.”

Peter and crew had seen Him die. They knew his body had been laid in a tomb. It was over. Maybe Jesus wasn’t the Messiah like they thought. He certainly wasn’t the Messiah they expected.

They went back to what they knew. Seven of the apostles climbed into the boat and stayed out all night, catching nothing.

At dawn they saw a shadowy figure on the beach, a man who called out, asking as fishermen do, “Did you catch anything?” They said they had not.

“Try tossing that net out on the other side of the boat” was something He had said before, back when He called Peter to go with Him. Both times the nets filled to overflowing and both times the fishermen realized this was God in flesh. Could it be?

When they approached the man on the shore, they found fish and bread. A meal to feed thousands. Don’t you know their hearts burned in their chests! Was it possible?

Yes, it was. Not only possible, but very real. Their friend Jesus was not dead. The Messiah was alive!

Reality seemed stranger than fiction, yet it was feeding them breakfast.

Our God knows that when we don’t see what we expect from Him, our hearts and mind return to what we knew before we believed. He doesn’t condemn. He understands. He goes to our shore, the boundary between what we know and what we believe, and prepares what we need in order to see reality.

Where are you right now? Are you standing on your faith, not sure where that’s going, but all in, ready to walk with the Lord anyway, OR are you out in the boat of the usual, disappointed, but prepared to stay with what you know?

My friend, Jesus has prepared all you need for your faith to be nourished to thrive. He’s inviting you to come and have your portion from His plenty. Are you ready to leave the boat?

Coffee, Bible, Journal.
