“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel—good news—of Christ, for it is God’s power working unto salvation, for deliverance from eternal death, to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek,” is the way the Amplified Version translates Romans 1:16 from the original language.
This is a perfect example of not only knowing what you stand for, but why. What’s so special about the gospel? What’s so important about it?
That good news of Christ is God’s power working for a person’s deliverance from eternal death. Everyone who believes with a personal trust—not mom’s and dad’s, not grandma’s and grandpa’s, not friends’, only one’s own—AND a confident surrender and firm reliance receives that powerful rescue from sin and death.
What a joy to know that our God loves us so much!
What a relief to know He is not only that powerful, He uses that power for our benefit.
What a priceless gift He gives in that salvation to those who don’t deserve anything like it.
When you feel awash in heartbreak, fear, and anxiety, revisit these words. Know that this fact of salvation, the truth of the gospel is God’s power IN YOU. And…. You can share that power with others as you tell them of the good news of Christ and they experience His salvation, too.
Don’t be ashamed to tell others about the good news of Christ. It is more powerful than embarrassment. It is more powerful than someone’s disdain. Even more powerful than death.
Where have you placed your personal trust, confident surrender, and firm reliance?
