What’s in you?

God is infinitely able to do more than I can think or imagine. He is! Hallelujah! We serve a Mighty God!

Oh, wait. There’s more?

Let’s read Ephesians 3:20 a little closer:

Now all glory to God, who is able,

through his mighty power
at work within us,

to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

“At work within us”?

Why is that stuck in there?

Let’s look at the verses before these two.

Here Paul writes a prayer about us being empowered by God’s Spirit, drawing from His glorious, unlimited resources. He talks about us trusting Christ so much that He makes His home in our hearts, saying our roots will grow down into God’s love giving us unfathomable strength. He prayed that the church at Ephesus would then be able to understand how vast God’s love is for us.

Paul said when we’re in that place, we’ll be ready.

We’ll be ready for Him to work in and through us to accomplish His will and His purpose for which we were designed.

See, we often hear from God that we’re to do this or that and we rush right off without preparation. We spend more time planning and preparing for our vacation!

Now I’m not saying we put off doing God’s will. I’m saying be prepared. Even more so than Scouting ever taught you.

The daily trusting our Savior, listening for Him, and drawing from His strength prepares us for His instructions. When we walk in that power, in that confidence, He is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask or imagine in and through us — individually and as the Church.

Let’s get started today. Let’s let go of everything holding us back from fully trusting Jesus. Lies of the past, pride, independence, insecurities… let it all go. Don’t just lay them down, throw them in the dump and cover them up!

Once those are gone, we’ll be able to hear from God. With the strength He provides, we’ll be able to step out in faith to do what He’s purposed us to do – and see incredible God-sized results that we alone could ever have come near.
