What do you do when the tears stop?

Imagine being scared –

Your spouse has just hurt you for the umpteenth time after he said he would never do it again.

Your boss just let you know they’re downsizing and your job will be over at the end of the month.

The doctor looks at you and says Stage 4…

What do you do when the tears stop?

Our God has said He is a refuge, a stronghold, in times of trouble. He is a place of peace. He is a place of safety. He is strong and able to send our fears packing.

Trouble is, we tend to put running to Him somewhere after calling parents, calling best friend, talking to the folks at work, getting all the human help available.

What would happen to our lonely, frightened, broken hearts if we put “Run to God” FIRST on our list?

How would reporting the abuse to the police be different if we are operating from the place of God’s peace and strength?

How would our search for a new job be different if we are walking in peace and confidence of our place in Him?

How would the journey to healing be different for ourselves and our families if we start from that Stronghold of peace and perfection?

This running to Him is not physical. We won’t get all hot and sweaty and feel our heart pounding from the exertion, but in the spiritual realm, it is as big as any run for escape ever imagined.

As believers, the enemy can’t have us. He has lost us. His goal is to hurt our Father. What better way to hurt Him than to hurt His children?

So, he attacks.

When he attacks, we must move our hearts, minds, and souls to the King of kings immediately. We are invited into His sanctuary where peace almost seems an entity, it fills the space so fully.

Next time trouble visits you, don’t pick up the phone (unless it’s to call 911 for help or to report a crime) run to Him.

Your Savior is there, steadfast, never wavering, never weakened. Run to Him.

Focus your mind on Him. Watch Him as He protects you, grows you, strengthens you, and sets you back on your feet.

Ready? Set. GO!
