Trust is a mindset

Trust in the Lord.
Make Him your hope and confidence.

Easy, right?

It’s easy to SAY.

Yeah, let’s go with that. I can say I trust in the Lord, but when the rubber meets the road, do I?

Do I trust Him to provide for that winter electric bill? Do I trust Him to provide the food we need to feed our family?
Do I trust Him when I get that diagnosis? Do I trust Him when a relationship falls apart?
Do I trust Him when I’ve lost my job?

That’s not so easy, is it? We humans find it easy to trust God when all is well, but let the doctor say “cancer” or the bank account be short or a loved one die and our hope and confidence seem to switch to doctors or self or employer or government or pastor or any number of people instead of Almighty God.

It’s hard, y’all! And sometimes we think that if we really trust in God we won’t have any concerns. God knows we will! He designed us, you know.

It’s our mindset He sees. When we get the diagnosis – and I’ve been there a couple times – we can choose to seek Him before doctors. I’m not saying don’t move forward with medical care, I’m saying set your mind on your Creator before talking to another of His creations. Then let your confidence be in Him as He works through the doctors.

No matter what comes our way, we can put God first. We can determine ahead of time that regardless the circumstances, our trust, hope, and confidence is in God. Then as situations arise to exercise that decision, we can return to the determination made previously and stand on it.

If you’re in a trying situation today, I urge you to set your mind and heart on God and His solution for you – no matter what it looks like.

If you’re outside a life storm now, I urge you to make the determination to trust God always and to put all your hope and confidence in Him alone so you can stand on that when the next storm arises.
