When was the last time you remembered the mistakes of the past and felt the weight of the judgment of them? This morning? Yesterday? Be honest. Even the most mature of believers deal with this.
The enemy wants to steal from, kill, and destroy you. Jesus gives life. His Spirit provides love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
When you feel the weight of your past, of things you absolutely know God was not pleased with, bring them out into the light of Christ. Don’t let that thing sit in the lowest reaches of your memory to fester and infect.
Before accepting the salvation offered through Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary, we were all under the judgment of our rebellion against God. Our sentence had already been determined. It was death. Eternal, forever death. Eternity without any semblance of God in it. An eternity filled with only evil.
Then Jesus came and did what we couldn’t do. He became the once-and-for-all sacrifice for our sins, moving us from the list of condemned to the list of fully and forever pardoned. Redeemed. For good.
All those past offenses are gone. The judgment for them met. Condemnation done.
It’s time to develop a new habit: When the enemy brings up those things done in your rebellion against God, repeat these words: there is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus and that includes ME!
Then walk into the purpose God has for you with head held high. You are redeemed, believer. You have been bought with a price no one else could have paid. You are made new – pre-rebellion new. Let’s walk in that today and every day.
