No Longer Anxiety’s Victim

Worry. Anxiety. The kind that takes over the heart and mind, changes the character, inclinations, and purposes of a person. That’s what we’re talking about in Proverbs 12:25.

Often we read these words as though the worry and anxiety press a person down, but the original language reads more like the person bows down to them. Big difference.

When we allow worry and anxiety to become our focus, we have shifted our worship from God to the worry. We are bowing down to a little-g god.

I know anxiety. I’ve experienced the crushing soul-weight that steals your very breath. I believed myself a victim of it. I was wrong.

Hear me, Believer, I am NOT saying you’re a bad Christian or living wrongly if you struggle with anxiety. What I am saying is there’s a way out and that you don’t have to continue as a victim.

Your relationship with God through salvation in Christ has made you a victor over the enemy who wants you believing you’re defeated.
That enemy lies to you. Your feelings fall prey to him and join him in the lies.

Oh, my friend, turn to the Truth found only in Christ Jesus. Recognize that the worry you hold, the anxiety that encircles you is not your master. It is a captor that you don’t have to escape, you have the ability to crush it and walk away from it!

The second part of this verse is so important!
We all need encouragement.
We all need to know someone cares.
We all need to know that God, through a human, sees us and loves us.
Let’s let that message flow through us to others in words of life and hope.

Be careful not to flatter, but to encourage. Speak truth. Speak life. Speak peace. Most of all, speak sincerely. Sometimes, a hug will do all the talking needed.

Coffee, Bible, Journal.
