The Lord is good.
Do we really believe that? That He is good all the time? We say it in a responsive way,
God is good,
All the time!
All the time,
God is good!
But do we really mean that? Truly heart-deep believe it?
We prayed for that father’s son, the one who was so instrumental to helping others. We cried out that he would live, but he didn’t. Is God still good?
We begged and pleaded for the restoration of that marriage and it still ended in divorce. Is God still good?
We asked again and again for restoration of that relationship, but it never happened. Is God still good?
The truth is, yes. He is still good. Always good. Forever good.
Even when we don’t think so. Even when we question. Even when.
See, we often don’t know the entirety of a situation. We just don’t. And we don’t see into the future. We just can’t. And besides that, we pray for what we want, what will make us happy and/or comfortable.
God’s good is always for His glory, and always for our good. This is where faith must enter in. When we don’t understand with our finite human minds, we must trust that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do.
The Book says God is always good.
Even when we don’t like His choices, He is good.
His love for us is faithful and never-ending. He loves us beyond our comfort and ease. He loves us through every emotion. He loves us forever.
Let’s declare with the psalmist today that the Lord is GOOD! Let’s agree that His unfailing love lasts forever. Let’s rejoice that His faithfulness extends to us, our children, grandchildren, and to every generation that follows.
Most of all, let’s make the choice today to believe this truth, even if, even when, no matter what. May we say in the midst of our joy or our grief that THE LORD IS GOOD!
