What are you confident about? Your smile? Your words? Your abilities at work? Your talents?

This is one thing we can be perfectly confident in: when we ask for things according to His will (things that please Him) God hears us. Further verses tell us that He not only hears, but acts on our behalf within that will.

Whoooowee, y’all! That means I can ask for that vacation home in Charleston and I’m gonna get it!

Umm. No.
Unless it’s already God’s will for me to live part of the year in Charleston, it’s not a done deal. Not even close.

See, what happens when we read the scriptures and pray from the bounty of them in our heart and soul, we pray God’s will. When we know Him better, we we understand His will better.

We stop trying to bend God to our will and choose to walk in His.

Once we’ve made that shift and we see things differently than using our filter of “do it my way,” we ask for the things He already wants us to have. Isn’t that cool? God has plans for us that will prosper us. The thing is, we won’t understand that prospering until we let go of the reins of control and let Him choose our directions and action.

Maybe today is a good day to surrender the control and gain the confidence He gives. Maybe we can spend an extra 15 minutes reading the Word and asking Him to show us His will. Maybe today we’ll learn what it means to walk confidently into the throne room of the Almighty and ask for the things He already wants for us.

Seek Him first.
