God WILL answer you.

Many who read Jeremiah 33:3 focus on the “great and hidden things” part.

As I read this verse again this morning, I’m seeing WILL jump out at me.

God, through Jeremiah told the People, “Call to me and I will answer you…”

Whoa. Wait. That sounds like a promise.
If you are of the Chosen People (we discussed that recently…as a believer, you are) and you call out to God, He WILL answer you. You will not go without an answer.

How cool is that????

The God of all creation will answer you when you call to Him!

Now, remember. This isn’t going to be like Him answering the phone.
“Yo, my child. What’s up?”
“Well, God, my child is rebelling,
using drugs, drinking, and more.
That child used to love You so
much. I don’t know what to do.”
“I’ve noticed. It’s gotten pretty bad.
Okay. Here’s what you do…”

Don’t we wish it was that way? Instead, God wants us to tune into Him so we can hear with our heart what He is saying.

When I was in the deep pit of depression, thinking death was the only path to relief, I cried out to Him and He led me to Celebrate Recovery where I was able to peel away the layers of life experiences that had tossed me in that out and kept throwing dirt down on me. He didn’t outline steps for me to follow, He placed me in a community of people who accept me and share their journeys to help me on mine. His promise is true.

And that other “will”?
“and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

Sounds like another promise there.

There are so many things I don’t know or understand. How does a tiny bud open up into a huge beautiful rose? How does an image upside-right, seen twice (once per eye) turn upside down and make it to the brain as one image upside-right and in focus? I don’t get it!

I don’t think these kinds of things are what God is revealing. I think when we cry out for our rebellious child, He hears and answers, guiding us to seek Him for our child, for our peace, for life – and as we do that, we begin to learn how big and honest and loving and compassionate and righteous He is. As we continue to call on Him for that child, we learn great and hidden truths and we see God.

Promises we can depend on. Truth we can embrace. Faith we can live.
