Are you soul-tired?

A couple days ago, I spend the day creating content for a client. I had to dig for information, visit and revisit websites to get a feel for the voice that should be shared. At the end of the day I was exhausted. I hadn’t done any physical labor, but I was bone-tired.

We often reject mental or soul exhaustion because we can’t really be exhausted unless we have expended great amounts of physical energy.

As my pastor is fond of saying, there’s a good Greek word for that: BOLOGNA! I believe the Brits say it: BALDERDASH!

Your soul can be weary before you even get out of bed in the morning. Your heart may be breaking, rent in two because of your choices or the choices of others. You can be in a place where you’re having to make difficult decisions that will affect your life or the lives of loved ones.

Just like physical weariness can become dangerous without rest, soul weariness becomes disastrous without refreshing.

To languish means to lose or lack vitality, grow weak or feeble. It can come when a person is being forced to remain in an unpleasant situation. Some of you are there. You’re so tired, so weak, so ready to give up.

Take heart, Believer. Your God knows your situation to the tiniest detail and He offers you the refresh your tired, aching soul needs. He will replenish you, filling your soul back to the place where you are able to stand strong, despite your situation.

Take your tired soul to the One who created it. Show Him every empty place and experience His refilling. Revel in being filled to overflowing by the Savior so you can go about your day refreshed and renewed, no matter what you face.

In the midst of your languishing, lift your sorrow-filled soul to the Almighty and feel Him replenish what you thought was gone forever. Celebrate the renewal of strength and life within you that you thought was impossible.

In your pit of despair, you may feel that God doesn’t even see you. My friend, not only does He see you, He is leaning in listening for your call. Let your heart cry out to Him and trust Him to fully replenish your weary soul.

Coffee, Bible, Journal.
