How do you start your day? Not your breakfast routine, but your attitude. Do you start your day engrossed by your aches and pains, your work schedule, your overwhelming to-do list, and the chaos around you or do you recognize God and His unending, unfailing love for you?
When is the last time you visited the times God has been a refuge for you? It’s good to look back and say, “God saved me from that” or “God was right beside me through that” or “God gave me such peace here.”
If, however, we regard the Almighty first thing, thinking about who He is and how He has acted on our behalf in the past, our heart is strengthened, our minds are eased, and our day — regardless the things that come up — is peaceful.
This isn’t to say we ignore all the other things. We still have things to do, people to encounter, life to live. But when our focus is right, all those fall into line and we’re better able to handle what comes along.
Give it a try today, Believer. Assert the truth that God is your refuge, your place of safety when you are distressed. See how that changes your day. You’ll likely have to repeat it, but soon you’ll sense almost automatically that no matter what distressing thing is thrown at you, you’re safe and able to deal with it from your place of peace.
Coffee, Bible, Journal.
