You’re Not Finished Yet

Do you get discouraged that you’re not where you thought you would be at this point in your spiritual life? Do you feel like you barely know anything about the scriptures or life and you’re just floundering?

The people at Philippi had their issues, too, and Paul penned these words to them. He knew that the growing into mature believers is a work of God and that He is faithful to do just that so that on that day when Christ returns, they would be presented in full maturity.

We are all in different places, Believer. I’ve been at this a while, but before I fully surrendered to being molded by God’s work in my life, I waffled a LOT. I thought church attendance was the benchmark to prove I was a fully devoted disciple. Even so, I didn’t get there a lot.

I spent years thinking the more church activities I was involved in, the better a follower I was. Thankfully, God used those activities and my desire to be in His will to make me into the woman He created me to be.

He’s working on you, too, Believer. He’s got this growth to maturity thing under control. He is going to present you on that day of Christ’s return as the masterpiece He designed.

I will tell you though, sometimes the molding and maturing is going to hurt. It’s going to be uncomfortable. He has to get rid of the old ways, the old thoughts, the old us in order to develop the new us. We are made new at salvation, but that new person must be developed. God is so good to do that over time instead of ripping us apart in a moment.

Our part in this process is actually just like salvation. We have only to surrender. Give up. Let go of the reins. Stop trying to rule your life and let Him do it. In that position of surrender, God will shape and hone you into the masterpiece He will then show to the world for His glory.

He’s not finished, my friend, therefore neither are you.
