There are those who say that social media is of the devil, that it’s evil. There are some who believe that the internet is a horrible place.
I just looked at the stats for my website last week. The numbers aren’t impressive as far as how many people visited, but the PLACES are. Almost every visit to the site is driven by Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and search engines.
What I see here is that there are people in countries where a preacher cannot stand up in the midst of people and share the Good News of Jesus Christ, people are connecting with that Good News through my website. God promises that His words will not return void. They will accomplish the purpose for which He spoke them — building His Kingdom.
Just last week, people from China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Kenya, as well as the US, UK, Canada, and Australia read scripture and had the opportunity to know how much God loves them. This excites me and terrifies me.
No, I’m not scared someone is coming after me, and I’m not terrified for my life or that harm might come to me. I’m just more cognizant that I must be faithful to share the truth of God’s word most carefully, most diligently. It is a huge responsibility and I am grateful to Almighty God for entrusting me with it.
