No crying ever again

He [God] will wipe away every tear of His beloved.

This vision fell in line after the Judgment Seat of Christ, where He will judge believers based on what they’ve done and said and neglected to do and say. It’s also after the Great White Throne Judgment when those whose names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life are relegated to their choice of ongoing eternal death in hell.

I believe that there will be many tears at both of these. I believe we will grieve over the people we should have told about Christ and didn’t. I think we’ll sorrow over those we know who are not granted entrance to Heaven. That will be heart-rending.

But God upends the grief and sorrow, even in Heaven! He will wipe all those tears away, comforting every heart. Granting utter forgiveness through that touch. Giving peace forever.

Will that mean a wiping of our hearts of the ones we loved on earth not being there with us? I don’t know. Possibly. It’s possible that in the actual presence of Jesus, the things that concern us now won’t then. I just don’t know.

What I do know is that this thought propels me to be sure that every person I know and love has heard the Gospel and is given the chance to make the decision for life, and not only hear it, but is confronted with the need to make that decision as soon as possible. I would likely bring that up often to be sure they understand the importance of the decision. It’s a choice that can’t be reversed once life here ends.

The choice to reject Christ is to choose hell, a place of continual tears, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. A place that is dark and ugly, void of God and every characteristic of Him.

Today, let’s celebrate what it will mean to have our tears of grief and sorrow tangibly wiped away by the Savior. Rejoice in your destination and all the joy that is in it. Let’s also look around and learn who needs to know about Jesus’ sacrifice for them and make sure that we tell them. Let’s be sure they actually know the Lord instead of a walk-the-aisle experience that didn’t include life-change.
