Just this morning I read the following words from Oswald Chambers, author of “My Utmost for His Highest.”
Nothing is easier than getting into a right relationship with God except when it is not God Whom you want, but only what He gives.
Ouch!
I must guard myself from this thinking! Seeking God’s hands without seeking His face is just wrong. It’s kind of like when we’ve just friended someone on Facebook and they never post or comment on our timeline, but they pop up in our private messages asking for private conversation, money or other support. Not cool. Not cool at all.
The Amplified Classic translation says, “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your mind and heart and with your entire being and with all your might.”
Does that mean that I’m not to love myself? I mean, if I love me, how can I love God with my entire being?
No, I don’t think that’s it at all. I mean, Jesus said to love others as ourselves, right? We can love ourselves through the filter of loving God with all our being. When we love Him above all else, we see more correctly. We love others better. When we are aligned with Him, we grow into the purpose for which He created us.
Let’s be conscious about loving God today with our whole heart, mind, soul, and entire being. If something comes up and our first thoughts exclude God, let’s slam on the brakes and do a thought-check. Always bring God and HIS opinion into every equation. Let’s move into full obedience to His command and see just how amazing it is.
