I enjoy hiking in the mountains near my home. There are hundreds of trails where pioneers walked and over time those have become developed pathways through thick forest.
As I think about those ancestors who first arrived here, it’s hard to imagine this area completely undeveloped, devoid of pathways. Because of their courage and fortitude, I can now walk with ease, much less likely to get lost.
God not only created the path we’re walking, He developed it and us. He went before us. He also comes in behind.
As you walk in the wilderness, you have to be aware at all times. There are predators there. They are doing their thing, protecting their young and their homes. They could be looking for dinner and if you’re unaware, you might become the main dish.
This is how life is. There are predators out there. They are seeking us and stalking us. The aim is to destroy. If we’re unaware, we could become the victim.
It’s impossible for a human to
keep an eye on the
Deceiver and follow our calling.
Thankfully, our God is there, behind us, protecting us as we live out the purpose He designed us for.
Only God can be both Trailblazer
and Protector at the same time.
He leads us from the front
and He follows us from the rear.
Some translations say God barricades us. Fenced in, protected, yet moving forward in the life and calling He has designed us for.
It’s time we stopped letting fear batter us into a corner. It’s time we stopped believing the Liar and began trusting the Trailblazer. It’s time to step into our purpose and live the abundant life Jesus died for us to have.
