Learn your purpose, get to work in it, and fly like an eagle!

Oh, how we love this verse! We’re going to run and not be weary, walk and not grow faint. We’re going to fly like eagles! Yes and hallelujah!

Many of us miss that first part, though, the qualifier. It is those who trust in the Lord, and when we understand more what the original language said, we see it’s more than having trusted in God for salvation.

The Amplified Version that expands the English to more completely encompass what the original languages meant says:
“But those who wait for the Lord – who expect, look for, and hope in Him – shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up close to God, as eagles mount up to the sun; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”
‭‭
Far too often, I’ve expected to lift up like an eagle, but I was expecting to do so in my own power. I mean, I knew Jesus as my Savior, but I operated day-to-day in Faye-power. Not a good thing.

WHEN we expect in Him all the things He has promised, look for Him everywhere, and hope in Him absolutely, THEN our strength to walk the path He has chosen for us will be renewed, our reach will be rejuvenated, our power to serve will be strengthened. We’ll be able to move closer to God, unafraid of the power of His holiness.

When this is the case, we will have that new strength, resolve, and power to run and not grow weary, because we’ll be operating in our calling with God’s power instead of our own. We’ll walk our purpose and path without fainting or becoming tired – we’ll be living our God-given passion in His strength.

We need to be careful to live our own calling from God, not that of someone else, or what someone else says is our calling. Scripture has instruction as to what all believers are to be doing, but God designed each of us for a unique-to-us purpose to work His specific plan for His glory. We need to learn what that is and get to work in it.

It’s all about Him. All. About. Him.
