Oh what delicious truth to us in this time of increased stress levels, fear, and chaos! The chapter begins with “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”
Are you living in a state of freaked-outness? Are you scared to death because you don’t know what tomorrow holds? Is your heart broken because you can’t visit with friends and you miss being around people? Are you terrified of catching this virus and suffering with the symptoms, possibly dying? Are you struggling with leading your children through their school work, bringing tears for you and them? So many fears and tears and struggles!
God simply says, STOP. Just stop.
Stop all that striving, all that worry, all that fear, all that disappointment… stop it all and recognize Him and Who He is.
Oh, friend! When we get all confused and frightened, we seem to drag God down to our level, to forget that He is God alone. His ways are higher than ours, His thoughts higher than ours.
He is the God of all comfort, yet we forget to turn to Him, somehow thinking someone or something else can fill that role. We choose to let that someone or something else become our god of comfort.
Time to STOP.
Time to MAKE A CHANGE.
Time to KNOW THAT HE IS GOD.
Time to TURN TO HIM ONLY.
Believer, it’s time we start acting like we believe that Almighty God, King of the Universe IS the only God and that He will do what He says He will do. It’s time we started showing each other, and more importantly, an unbelieving world, that God is high and holy and that we trust Him.
