How to Have Perfect Peace

Perfect peace. Who doesn’t want that? How wonderful would it be in any and every situation to feel a deep, penetrating peace? Not the head-in-the-sand peace of not recognizing the chaos, but fully knowing the chaos that’s there yet being utterly at peace while in the chaos.

Isaiah declared that God would keep those who trust in God in this state of perfect and constant peace.

But wait, Faye… I trust in God, but I don’t have this ‘perfect peace,’ what’s up with that?

Our understanding of the word translated “trust” might be lacking. The concept is that the believer’s mind, both in its inclination and its character is unwaveringly fixed on God. The believer is committed to God, leans on God, and confidently hopes in God. Trust.

The reward for that kind of trust is the perfect and constant peace in which our Heavenly Father lives.

How does that happen?

When we are fully focused on God, committed to, leaning on, and confidently hoping in Him, we are spending time in His presence. Scripture says there are two things we experience in His presence: peace and freedom.

If you wish for some sort of peace in the middle of the storms that keep coming at you, focus on God. Tune into Jesus. Listen to and obey the Holy Spirit. Choose to so fix your mind on Him that everything else comes in last place compared to Him. Commit to Him. Lean on Him. Confidently hope in Him.

You’ll experience real, perfect, and constant peace in His presence when you do.
