Sometimes, it’s hard to comprehend that we began long before our parents conceived us. Actually, most of the time. We know the science. Egg + sperm = baby us.
God says He knew us before that and had plans for us long before that. Mull that over a minute. Parents plan for their coming child by getting the crib and diapers and such, but God planned for you by design. He put you together just so, for a very specific reason, with a very specific purpose.

Overall, our purpose is to glorify Him, but how we do that is the plan God set forth, long before even our great-grandparents were born.
You are here at this moment in your spiritual walk by His design. You’ve made all the choices to get here, but He knew you’d be right here, right now, reading these words. I know. It’s really difficult to understand, but the infinite God has said that’s how He operates, so we can just accept it and go with it.
Are you thinking you’ve messed up those plans? That you’re not God-glorifying material? That surely He’s given up on you and has assigned your purpose to someone else?
Apostle Paul’s words will assure you that is not the case. God considers you His masterpiece. A masterpiece is the greatest work of an artist. God considers you His greatest work. Yes, He does. Stop arguing with me and don’t roll those eyes!
When we have a masterpiece, like the Mona Lisa, we place it in a very special space visible to any who will look. We set it up just right for others to gaze upon to learn from, to exhibit the artist’s intention, plan and workmanship. It will be lit perfectly to show it off to the fullest. It will be protected by doors, locks, and alarms. It will be tended to, dusted off and cleaned regularly. And if that masterpiece somehow falls… we pick it up, repair any damage, and restore it to it place of purpose.
This is how God sees you, Believer. He has you in a very special place, visible to any who will look. He has you on display so that He can point you out and say, “Look! Here is my greatest work!” If you fall, He doesn’t pitch you into the dumpster. He lifts you, cleans you, and restores you to your place of purpose. You might be dented, maybe a little frayed, but you are still His greatest work, and He loves you tremendously as such.
Are you feeling beat up, cast aside, forgotten, useless, and worthless? Are you certain that any purpose you might have had once is gone forever? Do you think that because you’re not a star to mankind you’re not to God either?
I’m so sorry you feel that way. That is not the truth. You are deeply loved by the Almighty. You are not forgotten, not cast aside, nowhere near useless, and certainly not worthless.
The thing is, God isn’t going to barge into your life and take over. He won’t wrest control of you from you. He awaits your invitation to enter in. He stands by until you’re ready and able to surrender to His will and plan for you. When you do, you may experience some pain as the cleaning-up process is done, but at the same time, you’ll experience His comfort and encouragement.
You’ll become His masterpiece that He shows off to reveal His glory and wonder to all who see.
Are you ready to give up? To give in? To let go? To allow God to do all He wants in your life? To become who God died for you to be? Today is your day. Tell Him you give up and you’re ready for Him to take over. You may have to do that several times until your mind and will truly let go, but He will begin His work in you immediately.
It’s time to shine, Masterpiece!
