Troubles are coming your way. It’s part of life. Just when things are going so good, something breaks, something falls apart—sometimes you.
The good news is, the Lord IS good. He IS a strong refuge. He is a refuge that is more than a hiding place. He is a safe place, a protected place, a walled place where troubles can batter but never overtake.
When troubles come, and they will—in all shapes, sizes, and costs, we can run to the Lord. We can hide in Him, knowing that as people who choose to trust in Him, He is close. He is so near we can almost touch Him.
What a refuge! Not only does God provide this place of safety, He knows us. Truly! He recognizes us, cares for us, and fully understands us and why we’ve run to Him. There is nothing hidden from Him, and His love isn’t hidden from us.
We’re each living in one of three places:
• We’ve just survived trouble
• We’re living with troubles
• We’re about to encounter troubles
This means we should be doing one of three things:
• Praising Him for His refuge and seeking Him as we prepare for the next trouble.
• Rest in the refuge that is our Lord, trusting Him with every moment, every bit of the chaos threatening to overwhelm us.
• Seek God with all we are, prepare for the next trouble by drawing near to God.
Believer, no matter in which place we are, God is there with us. He knows our hearts, the things going through our minds, and all that’s going on in and around us. As we trust Him, He comes close to us. Never far off, shouting instruction or encouragement. He draws close enough for us to hear His direction and enjoy His presence.
Time to try that, huh? Let’s evaluate ourselves today. Ask God to reveal Himself as the refuge from troubles you need, then look to see that. Rest in Him. Revel in His protection.
