What do you hunger and thirst for? The question is NOT what are you hungry for or what are you thirsty for. Jesus was not talking about physical hunger and thirst.
The question is, what is it that you crave and desire so much that it drives your every thought and decision?

Before these words, Jesus told the people gathered—some were His followers, some were seekers, some were gawkers—that they should spend their energy seeking the eternal life that He (Jesus) gives.
In an arid land, the issues of food and drink can become overwhelming. A person gets to the point of being unable to think of anything else.
This is the state in which God wants us seeking Him. So hungry and thirsty that everything we think or long for is Him. Once in that state, it becomes a filter for everything we encounter.
Those words someone said.
The actions someone did.
The behaviors…
The rules…
Sickness, disease, troubles.
Our overwhelming desire to seek the eternal life Jesus gives places us in His presence, learning His ways, His words, His actions, and we begin to emulate those in our situations.
Look at you today. What is your deepest craving? Is it something material? Are you shooting for that big salary? That massive house? The fancy car? The expensive degree? Or is that craving the driving factor for the material longings—your spirit?
Your answer lives in a two-step process:
COME to Him, the One who holds the answers to everything you desire.
BELIEVE in Him, the One who died for you. Rely on Him. Trust in Him. Trust Him.
Allow Jesus to be the central driving force for everything you do and you will not experience the unquenchable thirst and insatiable desires that fill you now.
