“Such love” the verse starts out. What love, I ask. Let’s look back a verse:
“And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.”
Except that some who say they are followers don’t. Could this be a measure of the truth of one’s salvation? Possibly.
That could also be why there are those who say they are “in God” yet live in abject fear of Him. Not the fearful awe of Him, but fear of His punishment for wrongdoing.
When we surrender the control of our lives to God through salvation in Jesus, we begin to live in that perfect love, experiencing His grace and forgiveness rather than His rage and wrath.
Many who say they are believers only surrender partially. (That’s not really surrender, you know.) They surrender certain areas of their lives, but keep Him out of the others. They think they have the best of both worlds, but in reality, they don’t. Their souls know it, their hearts feel it. They fear the punishment that will come if they don’t fully surrender to Him.
Today is the day to give it ALL up. Every area. Every nook and cranny of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your strength. Throw those doors open to Him. Let God come in and sweep away any filth that remains, making changes to align you with Him, and moving into fully living in His perfect love.
As His love is perfected in you, the evidence of your relationship with God will become known, and others will want to know how you have that and what they can do to have it, too. What an opportunity, to share Jesus with willing, aching hearts who desperately need Him!
Let’s learn to live like Jesus here in this world, starting today!
