Sunday! It’s Sunday! We get to go to church again!
Oh, you’re groaning, “Yeah, right. I’ve GOT to go to church today.”?
Maybe we can revise that thinking.
Are you physically able to move and travel to the church building?
Do you have transportation–either your own or a ride with someone else?
Do you have clean clothes to wear?
Do you have shoes to put on your feet?
Do you have feet?
Do you have hands?
Are your eyes working?
Do your ears hear?
There are people who would give anything to be in the condition you’re in, with the amenities you have. They long to be able to gather with others to worship God. Like my husband’s aunt reminded me a couple years ago:
Say “I get to…” because it might happen that you don’t anymore.
So get ready! Get set! Let’s celebrate that we GET to go to church today!
I know. Sometimes you feel the “I got to” more than the “I get to” and it becomes a matter of your will to get moving.
I challenge you to go with confident expectations today.
Expect that those who hear you speak will experience the Living God in a way they never have before.
Expect those who have played around at being a Christian will truly surrender to Christ.
Expect those who have never heard the gospel will be awed by His great love and choose to follow Him.
Expect those who have been living out their faith to be renewed and replenished to live forward in His purpose for them.
In other words, put all your expectations on the Spirit of God and see what He does through your obedience. All you’re responsible for is the speaking of the Truth as He has given to you.
May God bless you and protect you, Pastor. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you His peace. Amen.
