David said God is our shepherd. In today’s scripture he praises God’s name because He bears our burdens AND carries us day by day. Oh my goodness!
Those things weighing you down—the pain, the fear, the anxiety, the diagnosis, the prodigal, the broken relationship, the worry, the world at large? God bears those for us when we let Him. We who are believers do not have to carry that alone.
Those times when you are so weakened in soul and spirit that you can’t hold your head up? When harsh words, troubling times, grief, and life in general has you feeling washed up and wrung out? God lifts you and carries you.
Just like a shepherd lifting a broken, hurting member of his flock to his shoulders to carry, our Savior lifts us to His shoulders and carries us until we’re strong enough and stable enough to stand and walk again.
Stop thinking you’re alone in this life, my friend. You’re not. Your Savior walks with you and when He sees that you’re weakened and falling, He lifts you right up and carries you, unfazed by what is happening. He knows the frailty of humanity. He created us! He knows how we compare to Him and is not surprised when we can’t take one more blow, one more step.
Today is the best day to allow Him to bear your burdens. Stop trying to carry the whole load! Ask God to help, then stop blocking Him.
Today is also the best day to sink into place in His arms, resting your wounded self on Him, letting His strength soak into your being as you allow the healing from Him to seep into your deepest parts.
Go ahead, Believer. Feel your Savior lift you from the muck and mire to hold you in His arms, safe and secure. Feel the pain drift away as His heart begins to beat in you.
Bless His name, praise Him. Explain to others all God has done in and for you. Start today!
