Our words and deeds must never contradict one another.

If we claim to be born again, saved, rescued, or Christian, we should be marked. Our lives should be different. Our behavior should be odd in comparison to that of those who don’t know Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Our personal integrity, godly character, moral courage, and all our conduct should be like visible tattoos that proclaim our relationship with God before we ever say we believe in Him.

Our words and deeds must never contradict one another.

If we say we are believers, our lives MUST be marked by these characteristics.

Where we get in trouble so many times is when we try to manufacture these characteristics on our own. See, we can be truthful, kind, loving, and display all sorts of godly behaviors on our own for a while, but if they are not born of the Spirit of God, it’s like we’re marking off a task list, and they won’t last. Something will knock us over and our true self will be revealed.

As a believer in Christ, the Spirit of God lives in us. We are supposed to relinquish control of our lives to Him, allowing Him to make the changes in us that reveal His presence in us, thus drawing people to Him.

Believer, are your marks showing? Do your words align with your behavior? Do others wonder about your faith because they don’t see what you tell them about your faith?

Today is the day to make these things new, fresh, and alive in you. Agree with God about any things you’ve been doing and/or saying that belie your beliefs (confess) and turn away from them (repent).

Surrender to the Spirit’s leading in your life and allow the change to be visible to all who come in contact with you. Be ready to explain the difference so that others may come to know the Lord through salvation or renewal of their faith.

You can be the light others need in the darkness.
