Spiritually Poor = Happiness?

Poor in spirit, being at the end of your rope, knowing you can’t take another breath without help from God…

Realizing your spiritual poverty is real and that you’re suffering and dying without God…

These can be recipes for sorrow, depression, fear, anxiety, emotional distress, and total breakdown.

God says differently. He considers these to actually be happy, to be envied, as spiritually prosperous—with life and joy, with satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of their outward circumstances.

SAY WHAT?!?

Yeah, that doesn’t make sense when our feelings are telling us how pitiful and depressing we really are, does it?

Remember, though, our feelings lie to us. The heart is, above all things, deceitful. You can’t rely on your heart or your feelings. You must always lean on the truth.

This “poor in spirit” or “realizing your spiritual poverty” isn’t saying you’re to be pitied. Far from it! It means you’ve recognized that you’re not God. You’re not in charge. You’re not on the throne of your life. You need the One who is, so you turn to God and move into a right standing with Him through salvation in Jesus.

THAT is a position to be envied.
THAT is a prosperity that money can’t buy.
THAT is true life and real joy that can’t be stolen.
THAT is a true blessing.

Where are you today? Have you realized your spiritual poverty and turned to God? Do you recognize that Heaven is now yours, that you’re walking around as a citizen of the Kingdom of God? If not, Believer, it’s high time you realize who you are and to whom you belong.

It’s time to be happy with your position of righteousness before God.
It’s time to recognize your spiritual prosperity, that you are blessed beyond measure to have life forever.
It’s time to live as though you have the favor of the Almighty, whether you feel like it or not.
It’s time to recognize this realization of our need for God is better than diamonds, gold, vacations, new cars, new homes, new furniture, perfect families, or any other thing we can see or touch.

Let’s look at our lives with fresh eyes today. Let’s decide to accept this blessing and walk in it. Let’s hold our heads high and live as children of the Most High God, displaying His glory through our blessing.
