Perfection that Revives Your Soul

The scripture says, “The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.”

What a concept that the instructions of the Lord revive the soul! Because they are flawlessly perfect, they are what our innermost being longs for. It’s what we search for, whether we know it or not, whether we believe it or not.

We seek perfection. We all do in some way or another, in ourselves, in others, in the world around us. We want order—even when we choose chaotic living. Sometimes, when we encounter this perfection, we are startled by it. It’s vastly different from the instruction of the world.

The instructions seem difficult, but once instituted, are the sustenance our souls have longed for, the very thing that lifts us from pits of despair, from miry bogs of anxiety and depression, from the chaos of poor choices.

All the “rules” of our Lord are trustworthy. They are true. They are right. They are sure. We can believe them without fear of being wrong. They make even the most childlike wise. They prevent our undoing and our falling apart. They protect us from the things of the enemy of our souls. They sustain life in us, giving us what we need to walk forward in the purpose for which we were created.

We must stop looking at the edicts handed down by God as rules meant to curb our fun and stop us from living a real life. They are not. God sees our lives across eternity, not the few years we will be on Earth. He doesn’t see us in the minute timespan we call a life, He sees us in the vastness of forever. His version of real life isn’t just what feels good now, but what fills us deeply across eternity.

Let’s try it today. Let’s look at the instructions of God and soak them in. Invite Him to show you how they revive your soul. When He does, revel in the fact that Almighty God thought about you and revealed Truth to you to restore your soul and enhance your life.
