What We’ll Cover Today:

We Will Be Separated From God.

* Scripture says so Isaiah 59:2 “It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.”
* We are NOT separated from God’s LOVE. Romans 8:38-39 “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
* There IS a difference.
* In Jeremiah 14:10, we see where God refuses to accept His chosen people as His chosen: “So this is what the Lord says to his people: “You love to wander far from me and do not restrain yourselves. Therefore, I will no longer accept you as my people. Now I will remember all your wickedness and will punish you for your sins.””
* It’s our choice.

How To Change People

* You can’t.
* Much of addiction is about controlling yourself and others.
* We must realize, the only thing we control is our reaction
* Only God can lead people to change.
* Prayer

The Power Of Forgiveness In Our Healing

* Commanded. Matthew 6:14-15, 18:21, Mark 11:25, Colossians 3:13
* Expected: Lord’s Prayer
* Definition
* Choice

Conclusion / Final Thoughts:

* We must accept that a consequence of our choice to sin is separation from God. Not His love, His presence.
* We must accept that we can’t change anyone, not even ourselves without bringing God into the equation.
* We must accept that forgiveness is not something we get to withhold. Our relationship with God (see #1) depends on it, and our healing requires it.
